Mitchell man charged with forgery

A Mitchell man was arrested recently for passing an altered check.

According to court documents, Jeremy Ziady, 32, admitted the value of a check he cashed at First National Bank had been altered. He allegedly told law enforcement a person wrote the check to him and another person changed the amount.

The felony forgery charge carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
