Mitchell man charged with failure to register as sex offender
A 47-year-old Mitchell man has been charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
Rickie Dean Schryvers was arrested Jan. 4 and charged in Davison County court the next day.
Failure to register as a sex offender is a felony with a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
According to the police report, Schryvers was required to register as a sex offender with the Mitchell Police Division in December, but failed to do so.
The report states Schryvers believed he had to register in January and not December.
Schryvers was convicted of 11 counts of possession of child sexually abusive material in Michigan in 2007.
His bond was originally set at $1,000, but he was later released without bond on personal recognizance.
Schryvers' court date has been set for Jan. 19.
