Mitchell man arrested for possession of controlled substance
A Mitchell man is charged with possessing a controlled substance.
Malachi Brown, 19, was arrested earlier this month for illegally possessing one pill of Vyvanse, a prescription drug to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Brown said he did not have a prescription for the Vyvanse.
Mitchell Police Division offers executed a search warrant at Brown’s home. When Brown arrived during the search, he lied to officers when they asked whether he had any illegal drugs on him.
Then Brown consented to a search of his person, upon which Officer Scott Walton found the Vyvanse pill.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
