Mitchell man admits to theft from vehicle
A Mitchell man pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated criminal entry of a motor vehicle for breaking into a parked vehicle last month and stealing a purse.
Andrew Schladweiler, 23, faces a maximum of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine as a result of the plea.
Schladweiler was arrested for smashing the passenger side window of a locked vehicle parked in an alley in the 300 block of North Main Street on July 23. He took a purse containing multiple items, with a combined value of less than $400, from the vehicle.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to recommend he receive a suspended prison term and dismissed other charges.
Schladweiler is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
