Mitchell man accused of stealing pistol
A Mitchell man is accused of stealing a pistol from Cabela’s.
Jonathan Harder, 20, is charged with grand theft, which carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
Harder was arrested Dec. 26 after police were notified he had been seen in possession of a firearm. Mitchell police found a pistol in his possession tucked into his waistband, according to court documents. The handgun was registered as stolen.
After waiving his Miranda rights, Harder allegedly admitted to stealing the gun from Cabela’s on Dec. 23 with the aid of a friend. He also allegedly admitted he was semi-concealing the weapon from police Dec. 26 when he placed the gun in his waistband.
