Mitchell Junior Legion falls to Huron at tourney

BROOKINGS -- The Mitchell Junior Legion baseball team recorded two hits before falling to Huron 5-1 Friday at Bob Shelden Field.

Brady Bathke and Carter Star had the only base hits of the game for Mitchell.

Landon Neugebauer was the losing pitcher. He threw three innings, giving up five unearned runs on four hits.

Devin Mehlhaff pitched in relief, giving up two hits and no runs. The Mitchell defense finished the game with six errors.

Huron had six hits in the game. They were led by Collin Simons, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Cole Peterson was the winning pitcher for Huron. He threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and walking two.

Mitchell continues the Brookings Wood Bat Tournament today when it plays Brandon at 2 p.m. and Brookings at 7 p.m. Both games are at Bob Shelden Field.
