Mitchell health care leaders recognized
Two Mitchell health care leaders took home awards recently during the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organization’s 87th Annual Convention in Sioux Falls.
Angie McCain was recognized with the 2013 Spirit of Service Award from the South Dakota Healthcare Human Resources Association The Spirit of Service award recognizes an employee who has performed above and beyond the call of duty and has shown extraordinary acts of kindness in the community and/or for patients, visitors or fellow employees.
McCain has worked at Avera Queen of Peace for 35 years and is currently the director of the surgical and maternal care units.
Avera Queen of Peace’s Jeanice Miskimins was honored with the South Dakota Healthcare Social Work Association’s Social Worker of the Year Award. This award is given to a social worker in the hospital setting that is not only an advocate to patients and their families, but is the collective voice to influence change related to health care and social justice issues. Miskimins has been employed at Avera Queen of Peace for more than 20 years.
