Mitchell fastpitch softball team sweeps O'Gorman
SIOUX FALLS -- The Mitchell High School fastpitch softball team swept a doubleheader from Sioux Falls O'Gorman on Monday night.
Mitchell won the first game 9-3 in four innings and took the second game 9-1 in five innings.
Krista Huber picked up the win in the first game. She allowed two earned runs on one hit and struck out three. Katie Lazenby went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Ashley Green had a double to lead Mitchell's offense in the opener. Emily Sudbeck also hit a two-run homer.
In the second game, Hallie Misiaszek struck out four and allowed two hits in five innings to pick up the win.
"We're getting a rotation in and trying to get everybody an even amount of starts at the beginning of the year," Mitchell coach Jim Misiaszek said. "All three pitchers have made it difficult to cut in down to two so far."
Andrea Sheppard-Kauwalu also picked up a win in the circle for Mitchell in Rapid City over the weekend.
Kaleigh Rolle drove in three runs and Macie Harris had four RBIs for Mitchell in the nightcap. Courtney Moore went 2-for-3 and Abby Sudbeck drove in a pair for Mitchell, which hosts Madison and Brookings on Sunday at the Cadwell Park Sports Complex. Mitchell hosts Madison at 2 p.m. and Brookings at 3:30 p.m.
