Mitchell businesses burglarized
Two Mitchell businesses were burglarized over the weekend.
Rob’s Short Stop on Burr Street and Lewis Drug on Main Street both sustained damage to the buildings.
Between 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday, someone broke a glass door at Rob’s Short Stop convenience store and stole three cartons of Marlboro red cigarettes, nine single hard boxes of Marlboro cigarettes, two cases of Bud Light beer and one 18-pack of Bud Light beer.
The damage and stolen items are valued at a total of approximately $700.
Detective Lt. Don Everson said a patron who was going to Rob’s for coffee Friday morning reported the glass door had been broken.
Early Sunday morning, an alarm company notified Mitchell police that a burglary alarm was sounding at Lewis Drug on North Main Street, Everson said.
Someone cut a hole in the side of Lewis Drug in a wall of the building and entered through that hole. It appears the suspect was scared off by the building alarm and nothing seems to be missing from the building.
Approximately $750 worth of damage was done to the building.
Anyone with information regarding either of these incidents, or regarding suspicious activity in the area at the times mentioned, is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 996-1700.
