A classmate of the 6-year-old boy injured in a house fire April 20 in Mitchell has raised enough money to buy the boy an iPad.

Noah Larson, 6, is a kindergarten classmate of Jacob Sehnert at Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary in Mitchell.

Jacob was hospitalized with smoke inhalation as a result of the blaze. His 3-year-old brother, Jaxon Sehnert, died of similar injuries the day after the fire occurred.

The boys' parents, Jordon and Jessica Sehnert, said in a news release last week they expect Jacob to make a full recovery. Noah's generosity is the result of a discussion in the two boys' kindergarten class regarding what could be done to help Jacob, said Jill Larson, Noah's mother. It didn't take long for Noah to formulate a plan. After pouring out his piggy bank, Noah woke his mother one morning last week with a handful of money he wanted to give to Jacob. "(Noah) felt really bad for Jacob and he wanted to do something to brighten his day a little bit," Larson said. After she asked Noah if he could think of something to buy Jacob instead, Larson said Noah decided on an iPad. In two days, Noah raised more than enough money to buy Jacob an iPad. Donations came from family and friends, and even strangers just looking to help, Larson said.

The Larsons ordered the iPad and expect to receive it this week, she said, at which point they will decide on the best way to get it to Jacob

The funeral for Jacob's brother Jaxon will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell.
