SPOKANE, Wash. —Wessington Springs native Mitch Kraft was named to the NCAA Div. II cross country All-American team Saturday.
The honor is the first for the Black Hills State University senior, who became the first Yellow Jacket ever to be named to the team.
On Nov. 9, Kraft also made BHSU history by becoming the first runner from the school to qualify for the NCAA national championship after placing 19th at the regionals.
Kraft finished 29th in the 10K race held Saturday in Spokane, Wash. It was just the second time he had ever competed in a 10K race. Kraft finished in a time of 31 minutes 8.8 seconds, for a mile pace of 5:01.
This season was the first for BHSU as an official NCAA member.
