Miller, Grizzlies beat Mavs, seize seventh seed
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Eighty-two games wasn’t enough to decide the seventh seed in the Western Conference. It took overtime Wednesday at FedExForum before the matter could be settled.
Guard Mike Conley hit two free throws with 1.1 seconds left in overtime, and the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-105.
Memphis (50-32) captured the No. 7 position in the West, and it will open the postseason against the second-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
Dallas (49-33) get the eighth seed, and it opens against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Grizzlies got 27 points and 14 rebounds from power forward Zach Randolph. Conley scored 22 points, and center Marc Gasol just missed a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Guard Tony Allen finished with 13 points. Mitchell native Mike Miller scored three points.
