MHS Booster Club can raise up to $5,000 in Dodge event
Mitchell High School Athletic Booster Club has the potential to raise up to $5,000 Friday at the Booster Club/Iverson Chrysler Center Test Drive Event.
For every person who comes to test drive a Dodge vehicle from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Joe Quintal Stadium, MABC will receive $20. The maximum number of test drivers -- who 18-and-older with a valid driver's license -- that goes toward the fundraiser is 250. The event precedes the Kernels' homecoming football game, which begins at 7 p.m.
"It's the easiest thing in the world," Iverson Chrysler General Manager Tim Herll said. "The test drive is a few blocks, and it's not about trying to sell a car. It's about getting people around Dodge vehicles and maybe it sparks some interest later on."
Herll said the process of test driving the car and filling out the paperwork to solidify the amount of people participating in the fundraiser will take roughly 10 minutes.
This is the second time MABC and Iverson have put on the fundraiser. Two years ago, the club raised $2,700.
"We did a bad job getting the word out about it then," MABC President Steve Morgan said. "We hope the majority of the people can come out early, and we appreciate Iverson helping with a night of donation for us."
Morgan said the money will be used to purchase items off an athletic team's wish list. Wish list items have included, warm-up uniforms and equipment.
