“Breaks are nice, but it had been three weeks without competition,” Mitchell coach Audra Rew said. “It was a little bit like the first meet of the season all over again.”

Madison finished second as a team with 139.050 points, while Brookings took third with 134.350.

Watertown’s Krisia Bramer won the individual all-around with a score of 38.075, while also taking first on vault, bars and the balance beam.

“She looks amazing and is the best gymnast in the state through the first half of the season,” Rew said of Bramer.

Mitchell’s Rebecca Sadler came in second in the all-around with a score of 36.375, while her teammate Quinci Herll finished third with 36.350 points.

“I am still finding their final routines that I want them to compete at state,” Rew said. “Rebecca did a new vault and I can see that progressing and being a really nice score for her and the team.”

Ellie Rew also had a strong showing, placing fifth in the all-around.

“I like the consistency I see from Ellie Rew,” Rew said. “She has really been steady all season.”

Herll finished first for the Kernels on floor with a score of 9.650, while also taking second on the balance beam. Sadler had a second-place finish on bars.

The Kernels will be at a triangular with Wagner and Sioux Falls Roosevelt today in Sioux Falls.

“With it being a triangular I think the kids are going to be able to relax a bit and get on track,” Rew said.
