Meth charge added to reckless burning, suspect on loose
Mitchell South Dakota 120 South Lawler 57301

A Mitchell man has been indicted for possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Robert Pomani, 33, allegedly possessed meth on or about Oct. 17, just one day before he allegedly set fire to a house at 615 W. Fourth Ave. Officials said at the time it appeared Pomani set fire to the home to get even with the homeowner, Joel Ward, who made a report of an assault between Pomani and another person.

Pomani pleaded not guilty to the reckless burning charge in November and was released on bond in December. He has not been seen or heard from since, according to court services.

Judge Tim Bjorkman ordered a bench warrant for Pomani after he failed to appear for court Tuesday.

The possession of a meth charge carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The possession of drug paraphernalia charge carries a maximum of 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.
