Medical condition leads to crash near Menno
MENNO -- A 46-year-old man suffered a medical event while driving Monday near Menno, which authorities say caused him to crash his car into a nearby field.
Perry Tschetter, of Bridgewater, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 nearly two miles west of Menno in a 1999 Chevy Cavalier when a medical event caused him to enter the ditch and crash into a nearby field, according to South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Podzimek. What kind of medical event was not specified.
Tschetter suffered no injuries as a result of the crash and was conscious and responsive when he was examined by paramedics at the scene. He was transported by ambulance to the Freeman Regional Hospital.
Tschetter's vehicle sustained only minor damage, Podzimek said.
The Highway Patrol, Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office and Menno Ambulance all responded to the crash.
