Measure to raise minimum wage set for ’14 ballot
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A measure to raise the state minimum wage will be on the 2014 general election ballot as Initiated Measure 18.
Secretary of State Jason Gant says that based on a validation of a sample of signatures, the group sponsoring the measure submitted nearly 21,000 valid signatures. That’s well over the 15,855 needed.
The measure would raise the minimum wage from the current federally set $7.25 to $8.50 an hour and increase the $2.13 hourly tip wage to half the minimum wage.
