MCTEA renovation to be re-bid
The Mitchell Board of Education decided Monday to reject the primary construction bid for the renovation of the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy and re-bid the project.
The decision came after the lone bid from Sunkota Construction of $735,000 was deemed too high. The project's budget is about $750,000.
Superintendent Joe Graves said he hopes to re-advertise the bids and come back to the project at the board's July meeting.
Some of the construction will have to be done during the school year as a result of the re-bid, Graves said, but he doesn't expect that to be a problem.
The renovation will be funded from a $1,240,228 grant awarded to Mitchell in February from the Governor's Grants for Career and Technical Education.
