A Marion man suffered minor injuries in a crash Monday morning on state Highway 38 about eight miles east of Mitchell.

Joshua Schmidt, 38, was driving a semi westbound on state Highway 38 shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday when an eastbound Chevy Equinox driven by 33-year-old Misty Robinson, of Fulton, drifted into his lane, causing the two vehicles to collide, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Petersen.

Schmidt’s semi was forced into the ditch in the crash, causing the cab to separate from the trailer and roll onto the passenger side. Schmidt was not wearing a seat belt and was knocked unconscious in the crash, Petersen said. He was later taken by ambulance to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell with minor injuries.

Robinson was wearing a seat belt and was taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in a private vehicle with minor, if any, injuries. Petersen said a citation is pending against Robinson.
