Man, in neck brace, pleads not guilty to stealing propane truck
A Mitchell man has pleaded not guilty to grand theft and intentional property damage, both felony charges.
Kelly Joe Watts, 26, appeared in court Tuesday in jail scrubs and a neck brace. Watts is accused of stealing a propane truck from Mitchell Technical Institute in June, which subsequently rolled in an accident in Bon Homme County. When he allegedly took the truck, he broke through a chainlink fence.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Judge Tim Bjorkman scheduled jury trial for October.
