Man involved in Rapid City standoff charged with kidnapping
RAPID CITY (AP) — A Rapid City man who took a 2-year-old boy hostage and barricaded himself from law enforcement officials for six hours Tuesday night has been charged with kidnapping and burglary.
Raymond Cuny, 32, was charged Wednesday morning with first-degree kidnapping and two counts of second-degree burglary. A court clerk says Cuny is being held in the Pennington County Jail without bond.
Cuny took the young boy hostage Tuesday evening and locked himself in Rapid City home. A special response team forced entry into the home and rescued the child around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. No officers were injured, and the child was returned unharmed to his family.
The Pennington County sheriff said Cuny had two active felony warrants prior to the incident.
A trial date has not been set yet for Cuny.
