Man charged with Jack's Campers theft
A Mitchell man was arrested Aug. 15 for grand theft and burglary.
Matthew Pergeson, 20, is charged with burglarizing an unlocked camper in the Jack's Campers lot in Mitchell in July. According to court documents, two televisions and a surround-sound system were stolen from the camper. The total reported value of the stolen items was more than $1,000.
Mitchell police found Pergeson in possession of one of the TVs. Pergeson allegedly confessed and upon searching his residence, the police reported finding the other television and the surround-sound system.
The maximum penalty for third-degree burglary is five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both. The maximum penalty for grand theft is two years in prison, a $4,000 fine or both.
Pergeson is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
