Man arrested at Rapid City mall after Facebook threat
RAPID CITY (AP) — Authorities say a man was taken to a Rapid City mental health center after posting on Facebook that he was going to kill people.
Someone told police that the 20-year-old was on his way to the Rushmore Mall on Thursday. His name was not released.
Police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel told the Rapid City Journal that mall security officers were alerted. They found the man and kept an eye on him until officers arrived and took him to the Crisis Care Center.
Heupel says police didn’t find any weapons on the man, who said he didn’t actually mean the threat.
She says the man agreed to seek help and no charges have been filed.
