Mae Klinkhammer-Hendricks

Mae Klinkhammer-Hendricks 83 of Howard, SD was called to her heavenly home on January 7, 2014 in her sleep. She was born on November 2, 1930 to Margaret (Neises) and John Gassman. She attended Burbank Country School and graduated from St. Agatha Catholic School in 1948. On January 18, 1930 she was united in marriage to George Klinkhammer. They raised their family on a dairy farm south of Howard. They spent 51 years together and enjoyed dancing, traveling to all 50 states, and golfing. George passed away on May 17, 2001.

On November 2, 2002, she married Dale Hendricks, who had also lost a spouse of 51 years and they shared 7 years together until his passing on January 17, 2010. She felt blessed and welcomed by all of Dales family. During her life she worked outside the farm, driving for Head-Start, and working at Winks, Ravens, Grow-Joy, and Wrap It/PBM. Some of her hobbies included playing cards and dominos, sharing coffee with the ladies, attending Red Hatter gatherings, tending to her flowers, crocheting, and reading. She always said she wanted a big family and was so grateful to be able to attend many of their various school activities. She was an active member of St. Agatha Catholic Church and was a true and faithful servant. She touched the hearts of many and will be missed greatly.

Other members preceding her in death are her parents; two unborn children; twin infant great-grandchildren; a sister, Cecilia Klinkhammer; two brothers Edmund & Bernard Gassman; and brother-in-law Walt Klinkhammer.

The light of her life was her family including her ten children: Rick (Janet), Tea, SD; Terry (Donna), Howard, SD; Greg (Patty), Sioux Falls, SD; Jim (Kim), Howard, SD; Lanny (Amy), Howard, SD; Kim (Phyllis), Howard, SD; Lynette, Flower Mound, TX, Paul (Tami), Wichita, KS; Daron (Sharon), Howard, SD; and Amy (Steve), Howard, SD; 39 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Other survivors include a brother, Myron Gassman; sister-in-law Ardella Gassman; sister-in-law Delores (Walt) Kampshoff; and many nieces and nephews.

BURIAL: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard,SD

VISITATION: will begin Sunday at 5pm with a Wake & Rosary service at 7pm all at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Howard, SD
