March is National Youth Art Month, and to recognize students in the region, the Dakota Discovery Museum is hosting the 2014 Youth Art Show.

This annual exhibit offers South Dakota students the opportunity to show their work in a gallery setting and have it evaluated by professional artists.

The 2014 Youth Art Show will open March 1 and run through Saturday, March 29, at the museum, located on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University at 1300 McGovern Ave., Mitchell. A free artists' reception is planned for Saturday, March 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Professional artists will be on hand to critique student's work.

Regular museum hours for the exhibit during March will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. During the exhibit, admission is free for student artists and their immediate family.

Students grades K through 12 who live or attend school in South Dakota, including home schools, are eligible. Entry forms are available online at or by calling 996-2122.
