LETTER: Weiland has the right idea
To the Editor:
Warren Buffett famously said, "there's class warfare, all right, but it's my class -- the rich class -- that's making war. And we're winning." As usual, Buffett was absolutely right. He's among the super rich, yet he knows that the war of the rich against the rest of us is bad for everyone.
It obviously cheats us and our kids out of the equal opportunity and level playing field we deserve. But it also cripples business by depriving the middle class of the money it needs to buy what business produces.
That's why I was encouraged recently when I heard U.S. Senate candidate Rick Weiland speak. It made me hopeful to hear his sensible policy solutions, rooted as they are in the reality felt by regular-working South Dakotans. What a refreshing alternative to the same old nostrums repeatedly handed down to us by the one-percenters and their toadies.
