LETTER: Utilize local people for Corn Palace projects
To the Editor:
Note to City Council: There was a news item in the Nov. 4 Daily Republic concerning a discussion to take place at your next meeting on hiring a fundraiser for the Corn Palace. As we already have Mitchell Main Street and Beyond and the Chamber of Commerce, whose goals are to encourage new business and refurbishing of the old, it appears we have some very capable people to tackle the fundraising idea.
I have noted throughout the state when certain things need to get done, the first reaction is to go out of town or in some cases out of state to find qualified people. In fact possible plans for an improved Corn Palace were done by an out-of-state firm at several hundred thousand dollars. If you support Mitchell, solicit ideas here first.
