LETTER: Support tourism, not mining, in Black Hills
To the Editor:
It’s difficult to comprehend for me, but why are these large companies wanting to destroy the beautiful Black Hills? They are something to treasure and share with others. Besides, tourism is the biggest income for the area, and therefore our politicians need to wake up and oppose this travesty, not support it.
If you have seen the animals I have walking around, the pinnacles that rise up out between heavy mist, the substantial beauty. Powertech/ Azarga would wreck all this permanently.
The blind need for jobs has made those hungry at whatever the cost to current and future residents. It’s not reality, because those jobs will be few and dangerous; work with tourism is the better choice.
I encourage all to contemplate true realities instead of hype and keep the ugly mining out of this beautiful area.
