LETTER: Remember our veterans, always
To the Editor:
I appreciate the wonderful write-up by Terry Woster printed in The Daily Republic, “When War Heroes Walked Among Us.”
The American people, the armed forces and Allies around the world will never forget the World War II peace signing. What a wonderful day.
How well I remember. We had finished our job on Iwo Jima, sleeping in our pup tent and the sand by Mount Suribachi, and headed for our next island to help our buddies. Thank the good Lord it was over, but we still went. We landed on the West Coast four months later.
Don’t ever forget our heroes, resting in far-off lands.
God bless everyone, and a peaceful world to all.
