LETTER: Chamberlain should allow honor song
To the Editor:
Twenty years after the late Gov. George S. Mickelson initiated his push for reconciliation between the prevalent races of South Dakota, the Chamberlain School Board still doesn’t get it. What a shame, and an embarrassment to South Dakota. With more than 30 percent of the Chamberlain student body comprised of Native Americans, and considering that a Latin song was previously used at graduation, this reeks of discrimination on the part of the Chamberlain School Board to continue to reject the use of a Native American honor song.
It’s time to boycott Chamberlain/Oacoma.
