Lego competition making its State Fair debut
HURON -- The first lego building competition will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the South Dakota State Fair Arts and Education Building.
Sign up for a chance to compete during State Fair week at the Arts and Education building. People may sign up once each day. Your name can be included in the drawing up to five times.
There will be one drawing for each age bracket held on Monday. Drawings will be held 10 minutes prior to each age bracket start time.
There are four age group brackets:
• 9 to 9:30 a.m. -- Ages 15 to 18.
• 10:30 to 11 a.m. -- Ages 11 to 14.
• 1 to 1:30 p.m. -- Ages 8 to 10.
• 2 to 2:30 p.m. -- Ages 5 to 7.
Twelve names will be drawn for each age bracket at the designated times. Contestants must be present at that time to be eligible to compete. If a name is drawn and that person is not present, the name will be discarded and another name will be drawn.
LEGOS will be provided for use during the competition. Explanation of rules, design, building of projects, judging and awarding of prizes will all take place within in the 30 minute time allotment for each age bracket.
All LEGOS, including completed projects, will remain the property of the competition sponsor and may be on display at the Fair for the remainder of the day. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each age bracket.
The SD Robotics Association is hosting the event.
