LOWER BRULE — Six students from Lower Brule, Fort Thompson and Chamberlain are eligible for graduation from Lower Brule Community College for spring 2014.

The college will host the graduation ceremony at 1 p.m. on May 9 in the Lower Brule Community Center.

The college will confer degrees to 2014 graduates in the following areas: arts & science, business management and human services.

Theresa Two Bulls, an Oglala Lakota, will also speak to graduates and attendees. Two Bulls, from Pine Ridge, was the fi rst American Indian woman to be elected to the South Dakota Senate. Additionally, she was the second woman to be president of the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council, serving 2008-2010, and previously worked as a tribal prosecutor for the state attorney general’s offi ce.

Lower Brule Community College (www.lowerbrulecc.org) was founded in 1993 to serve the Lower Brule community and surrounding areas. The college is affiliated with Sinte Gleska University of Rosebud.
