Laura Agnes Freier

Delmont Laura Freier, 95, died Friday, April 25 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston with her loving family by her side. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 29 at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont with burial following in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 28 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Laura Agnes Rueb was born near Avon, SD on September 26, 1918 to Christ and Amelia (Bouder) Rueb. Laura graduated from Avon High School in 1936. Laura was united in marriage to Rudolph (Rudy) Freier on October 4th, 1940 in Avon. To this union three children were born Larry, Sandra, and Terry. Laura and Rudy farmed four miles east of Delmont until 1977 when they retired and moved into Delmont. When their health began to decline, Laura and Rudy moved to Walnut Village senior apartments and assisted living in Yankton, SD in 2007 where Rudy passed away on March 13, 2008. Laura continued to live at Walnut Village until September 2012 when she moved to Avera Borman Manor in Parkston, SD and resided there until her death.

Laura enjoyed bowling, cards, fishing, and sewing. Laura will be remembered for her many family meals as she loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed gardening and took pride in her care of her beautiful flowers. Laura's life was filled with love for her Savior as her faith remained strong and carried her to her heavenly home.

Laura is survived by one daughter, Sandra (David) Fink of Tillson, NY; a son, Terry (Celia) Freier of Delmont; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Freier of Little Rock, Ark. Six grandchildren: Kevin (Gayle) Freier and Tammy (Dodd) McCollum of Little Rock, Ark; Doug (Elise) Fink of Avon Lake, Ohio; Timothy (Michelle) Fink of Clifton Park, NY; Josh Freier of Tripp, SD and Sarah Freier of Delmont. Four great grandchildren: Bradley Freier, Ava Kate McCullum, Rudy Fink, and Emmet Fink, and many nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, one son, Larry, her parents, two brothers: Robert Rueb and Rueben Rueb and three sisters: Edith Christjans, Elsie Rueb, and Martha Rueb.
