The idea of land near Lake Mitchell becoming a state park isn't dead in the water, but it certainly isn't going anywhere soon.

The Lake Mitchell Advisory Committee, along with the city of Mitchell, pitched the idea to Gov. Dennis Daugaard while he was in town for the Capital for a Day event in 2011. It has gained little traction since then.
