K/WL, S/M/C advance at Region 2B tourney

SALEM -- The varsity teener Region 2B tournament is being held in Salem this week. Teams competing in the region tournament are Salem/Montrose/Canova, Kimball/White Lake, Mount Vernon/Plankinton, Alexandria, Emery and Scotland. Two teams will advance to next week's state tournament.

TUESDAY'S GAMES

SALEM/MONTROSE/CANOVA 11,

MOUNT VERNON/PLANKINTON 2

S/M/C defeated MV/P 11-2 Tuesday with the help of pitcher Anthony Tuschen, who gave up two runs on four hits while striking out two in four innings.

Luke Loudenberg pitched three innings in relief, striking out four. The losing pitcher was Owen London, giving up four runs on one hit in 3 1/3 innings.

Jesse Muth was 2-for-3 with a triple and Will Gottlob went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the win.

Ty Harris, Cody Renken, Jacob Stange and Joe Davis each had a single in the loss.

S/M/C plays Kimball/White Lake at 4 p.m. Thursday, while MV/P plays Emery at 8 p.m. today.

KIMBALL/WHITE LAKE 10, ALEXANDRIA 1

Kimball/White Lake defeated Alexandria 10-1 Tuesday to play in the semifinal game Thursday.

Ethan Gaulke was the winning pitcher. Jace Pulse started and pitched three scoreless innings.

The losing pitcher was Wyatt Kayser, who had three strikeouts.

Pulse, Gaulke and Hayden Thiry had two hits apiece, and Corban Heath added two singles in the win.

Alexandria plays Scotland at 6 p.m. today.

MONDAY'S GAMES

ALEXANDRIA 9, EMERY 2

Tanner Miller pitched six innings and struck out 10 to lead Alexandria over Emery 9-2 Monday.

Miller, Jerrod Zens and Aaron Wenande each had two hits in the win. Colton Plagman, Sam Arend and Peyton Bailey each had a hit for Emery.

SALEM/MONTROSE/CANOVA 8, SCOTLAND 0

Tim Gassman got the win on the mound to help Salem/Montrose/Canova shut out Scotland 8-0 Monday.

The losing pitcher was Blake Konstanz, giving up six runs on four hits while striking out three in four innings. Dan Stibral pitched two innings in relief, giving up two runs.

S/M/C had nine players who each recorded a hit, while Sawyer Schmitz had Scotland's lone hit.

Scotland plays Alexandria at 6 p.m. today.
