Kernels split with Knights
SIOUX FALLS -- Senior Sarah Ramsay had a big outing in the Kernel fastpitch softball team's 1-1 night against Sioux Falls O'Gorman.
Mitchell (5-6) won the opener 8-4 and fell 5-0 in the second game. Ramsay went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored three runs in Mitchell's win.
"She led off for us and had a great night," Mitchell coach Jim Misiaszek said. "She was very good in the outfield and save some runs."
Hallie Misiaszek was the winning pitcher, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out seven in six innings. She was 1-for-3 with three RBIs, while Abby Sudbeck was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Mitchell, which tallied 10 hits.
In the second game, Andrea Konz suffered the loss in the circle, giving up five runs, one earned, on seven hits. She struck out two in seven innings.
The Kernels had four hits as Misiaszek went 3-for-3 and Konz added a single.
The Kernels (5-6) host Sioux Falls Lincoln in a doubleheader at 6 p.m. Sept. 2 at Dr. McWhirter Field in Mitchell.
