Jury selection to run through today
CHAMBERLAIN -- Approximately 200 people have been called in for jury selection for a trial of a Gann Valley woman.
Donika Gonzales, 23, is accused of beating a young boy to death in February 2013. Gonzales was the caretaker of the 4-year-old child and is accused of abusing him for wetting his pants.
Gonzales pleaded not guilty last year to several charges, including second-degree murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison upon conviction.
Jury selection is expected to go into Thursday, said Sara Rabern, spokeswoman for the S.D. Attorney General's office.
