Winners of the 19th annual Jason Kaemingk Memorial Scholarship were named on May 5 during the Pops Concert of the Mitchell High School music department.

Winners of the instrumental scholarships were: Maria Glover, Mitchell, daughter of Doug and Sina Glover; and Nadine Moore, daughter of Matt Moore and Shawn Oleson.

Vocal scholarship winners were: Macy Swanson, daughter of Greg and Paula Swanson; and Hanna Varilek, daughter of Lisa Wipf.

The winners were chosen from applications by selection committee members Chris Miller, Ryan Stahle and Wyonne Kaemingk.

The scholarship honors Jason Kaemingk, who died of the result of a car pedestrian accident in October 1995. He was a member of show choir, concert choir, jazz band, marching band and concert band. He was also involved with First Reformed Church choir. He was a pianist, guitarist, trumpeter and tenor saxophone player. The scholarship is administered by the Mitchell Charitable Foundation.
