Indian Education Summit to feature US, local experts
OACOMA — The 2013 Indian Education Summit will be held Sunday through Tuesday at Cedar Shore Resort in Oacoma.
The theme of the 10th annual event is “College, Career and Life Ready Through Community, Culture and Collaboration.”
Keynote speakers include Drs. Stephen Sroka and Running Horse Livingston, while breakout sessions will feature South Dakota programs that have achieved success in supporting the state’s American Indian students.
The goal of the Indian Education Summit is to provide solutions to the challenges American Indian students face and to present successful models for educators to implement. The conference is an opportunity for collaboration among state leaders, tribal and Bureau of Indian Education schools and individual school districts.
