Ida was born March 11, 1922, at Carlock, South Dakota, to August and Barbara (Schamber) Intorn and was baptized at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gregory. Her confirmation was at the Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Colome. Ida grew up in rural Tripp County with her seven sisters and two brothers. Taking after her mother, she learned excellent homemaking skills, which were later put to use caring for her family.

On December, 28, 1943, in the midst of World War II, Ida Intorn wed Herman E. Kaiser, who was later deployed to take part in the D-Day invasion, which initiated the march to the end of the war in Europe. After the war, Ida and Herman settled into rural life in their home east of Millboro, South Dakota, where they engaged in farming, ranching and the trucking business. Three sons were born to this union: Roger, James and Dennis.

In addition to the necessities of farm life, Ida filled her time with sewing, crocheting, gardening, and lovingly taking care of her family. Each year, harvest time knew no shortage of helpers, who always eagerly looked forward to Idas fried chicken, potato salad, iced tea, and homemade bread topped with her homemade jellies and jams. For many years Ida taught Sunday school part-time and was a full-time member of the Ladies Aid at St. Pauls Lutheran Church south of Colome. In November of 1975, the couple retired and moved to Winner.

Ida Marie Kaiser was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; one brother, Henry Intorn; sisters Hilda Ulmer, Alvina Blitze, Emma Dziadula, Arlene French, Viola Kartak, and Lorraine Prochazka; and daughter-in-law Karen (Huggins) Kaiser. Ida is survived by her sons Roger (Marian) Kaiser of Winner, Jim Kaiser of Millboro, and Dennis of Winner. She is also survived by grandchildren Brian Kaiser of Omaha, Nebraska; Troy Kaiser of St. Joseph, Missouri; Robyn Kaiser of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Clay (Renee) Kaiser of Millboro; Kody (Gordon) Assman of Mission; Christopher Kaiser of Omaha, Nebraska; and six great-grandchildren.
