The South Dakota Department of Transportation is advising motorists that durable pavement marking will be applied on a portion of Interstate 90 south of Salem in McCook County beginning Monday.
Work will begin on I-90 at the Hanson County Line and proceed east nine miles to the Salem rest area. Pavement markings will be applied to both the eastbound and westbound lanes and will take approximately one week to complete.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane during daytime hours and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph in areas of active work.
Motorists are reminded fines are doubled in work zones and to watch for slow moving and turning construction vehicles.
Dakota Traffic Services, LLC from Tea, South Dakota is the prime contractor on the $482,700 contract.
