Huron readies to launch recycling program
HURON (AP) -- The city of Huron is launching its first recycling program.
So far, about 600 households have signed up, and city officials hope to have at least 1,000 on board when the program begins in about six weeks.
The Huron Plainsman reports that the City Commission this week awarded bids and one quote for containers, two trucks and a trailer (http://bit.ly/Z1axN3 ). Sanitation Products of Sioux Falls was awarded a $114,000 bid to supply the 65-gallon refuse containers. It also got a nearly $260,000 bid for a truck chassis and automated side loader. Watertown Ford Chrysler got a $40,000 bid for two pickup trucks.
