Howard’s Loudenburg wins Region 2B title

FREEMAN -- Luke Loudenburg’s quest for another state title took a step forward, as the Howard junior won at 132 pounds at the Region 2B tournament Saturday in Freeman.

The Tigers qualified five wrestlers for the Class B state tournament. McCook Central/Montrose qualified six wrestlers for the state tournament, including Jerry Kappenman, who took first at 170 pounds for the Fighting Cougars. Two wrestlers for the Marion/Freeman team also qualified for state.

Canton won the team title with 189 points and qualified nine wrestlers for the Class B state tournament.

The Class B state tournament begins Friday in Aberdeen.
