Howard co-op builds fertilizer plant
HOWARD — The Howard Farmers Co-op has a new fertilizer plant.
Last fall, the co-op decided to build a new, larger fertilizer load-out facility to work in conjunction with the one already in use.
“The demand from the ever-shrinking window to get all the crop nutrients to the grower in a timely manner has increased dramatically over recent years and thus has created a need to be more efficient than ever before,” said a news release from the co-op.
The building allows the co-op to store 200 tons overhead and move product in and around the shed at a rate of 200 tons per hour.
“We are very excited about our expansion and are looking forward to providing better service to our patrons,” the news release said.
