Helen McGregor, 86, of Mitchell, SD, formerly of Kimball, SD passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. Private family Graveside Services will be held at Dunlap Memorial Cemetery. Memorials in Helen’s honor may be directed to: James Valley Community Center (JVCC), 300 West First, Mitchell, SD 57301. Helen (Cahill) (Will) McGregor was born on October 18, 1926 to Joseph and Eva (Munger) Cahill in Brule County, SD. She grew up in Kimball, SD and began working as a bookkeeper. In 1954 she returned to school, graduating from Kimball High School in 1955. Helen lived on a farm north east of Kimball for 17 years while she continued her employment as a bookkeeper for Midway Truck Stop in Kimball. She retired in 1992 and moved to Montana for 12.5 years before returning to Mitchell, SD in 2004.

Helen enjoyed reading and kept busy volunteering in the Mitchell area, greeting at the Corn Palace and for the Senior Meals program at the James Valley Community Center.

Grateful for having shared in Helen’s life: her three sons: Rodney J. Will and wife, Karen of Sheridan, WY, Terry G. Will and wife, Judy of Helena, MT and Kelly R. McGregor and wife, Diana of Kimball, SD; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Cahill and wife, Jean of Kimball, SD; a sister, Berniece Behrens of Reno, NV; along with several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by: a grandson, Sam Will; her parents, Joseph and Eva; a sister, Alyce Hoskins; and a brother-in-law, Bill Behrens.
