Hanson boys cruise to 77-37 win over MCS

Jordan Marquardt scored 25 points to help the Hanson boys’ basketball team beat Mitchell Christian 77-37 Thursday at Mitchell Christian School.

Marquardt also had five assists, Taylor Nichols added 15 points, Sam Vander Stouwe had 13 points and seven rebounds and Jacob Paradeis also had 10 points for the Beavers.

“Hanson shot the ball really well tonight,” said MCS boys’ basketball coach Dennis Martin, whose team fell to 4-13.

Ethan Cooper was the only player for MCS to score in double figures, scoring 10 points and recording three assists. Chandler Nelson added eight points for the Golden Eagles, while Cody Gromer had seven points and six rebounds.

Hanson outrebounded MCS 19-16 and carried a 39-21 lead into halftime. The Beavers added 38 points in the second half, while holding the Golden Eagles to 16 second-half points.

“In spite of the final score, I think there were some positive takeaways from the game,” Martin said. “The kids were a lot more patient on offense tonight and did a good job in the first half of scoring the basketball.”

MCS plays Bridgewater-Emery Tuesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, while Hanson (14-3) hosts Parker Monday in Alexandria.
