Hanson trailed 6-4 with just more than five minutes left in the opening quarter when Leah Marsh scored on a three-point play, Hailey Doyle hit a 3-pointer and Kynedi Cheeseman hit a basket and the Beavers led 12-6.

Hanson took a 15-10 lead into the second quarter.

The Chargers battled back in the second quarter and tied the contest at 18 with 5:14 left until intermission.

But the Beavers opened up the lead on consecutive three-point shots from Doyle and took a 24-18 lead.

Sully Buttes got a basket from Macey Chambers and a pair of free throws from Karlea Stahl to close the Beaver advantage to 24-22. The teams exchanged baskets and the Beavers went into halftime with a 26-24 lead.

Hanson came out on fire to open the second half with Cheeseman and Erika Nelson hitting baskets, and Cassidy Graham adding two free throws to expand the Beaver advantage to 32-24.

The Chargers scored two baskets to close the gap to 32-28, but Hanson scored five straight points to take a nine-point lead into the final stanza.

A 6-2 run to open the fourth quarter by Hanson gave the Beavers an insurmountable lead at 43-30.

"We were a lot more patient and we trusted each other a little bit more, and we weathered their pressure," Hanson coach Jim Bridge said of his team's performance. "(Friday against DeSmet), we rushed ourselves and got in too big of a hurry. We also didn't get down to Sully Buttes like we did Friday night. It's hard to come back when you get down. I think the third quarter that Sully Buttes had a lot to do with our defense."

Cheeseman led Hanson with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Beavers (23-3) were 14-of-38 for 37 percent from the field and 18-of-21 for 86 percent from the free-thrown line. Hanson out-rebounded Sully Buttes 29-19 and turned the ball over 15 times.

"We had a tournament of runs and we couldn't stay consistent," Sully Buttes coach Mark Senftner said. "Tonight, we had a ton of turnovers that we didn't have in the past. But we have to give (Hanson) credit. They put a lot of pressure on us and didn't give us second shots."

Chloe Lamb led the Chargers with 10 points and Remi Wientjs added five assists.

Sully Buttes (21-5) was 13-of-33 for 39 percent from the floor and 8-of-9 for 89 percent from the free-throw line. The Chargers turned the ball over 16 times.
