Gruener crowned 2014 Stampede Rodeo queen
Several area cowgirls became royalty during the opening day of the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo.
Stephanie Gruener was crowned the 2014 Miss Corn Palace Stampede Queen Thursday at the Horseman's Sports Arena. Gruener, who attends South Dakota State University, also won the queen contest's horsemanship award.
Cassidy Musick, of Mitchell, was named first runner-up, and Mikayla Sich, who also attends SDSU, won the Miss Congeniality award.
Junior queen royalty
Bailey Bosworth, of White Lake, won the 2014 Miss Corn Palace Stampede Junior Queen crown and the horsemanship award. Junior queen first runner-up was Madison Arnold, of Mitchell, who also was named Miss Congeniality.
Oakley Jandreau, a Kimball cowgirl, was named this year's Corn Palace Stampede Princess, as well as the princess horsemanship award winner. Runner-up princess is Samantha Ford, of Mitchell, who also was named Miss Congeniality.
Junior princess royalty
Gabrielle Rebelein, of Brookings, was crowned the 2014 Miss Corn Palace Stampede Junior Princess. First runner-up is Sierra McGregor, of Canistota. Mitchell cowgirl Rylee Jennings won the junior princess horsemanship award, and Aubrey Moody, of Letcher, was named Miss Congeniality.
