Group gives money to help restore historic house in Rapid City
RAPID CITY (AP) — A South Dakota group is giving money to help Rapid City with restoration of a historic house.
The Rapid City Journal reported South Dakota Community Foundation has awarded a $4,500 grant to a group of historic preservation advocates known as Historic Rapid City.
The money is meant to help with repairs on the 1880s home built by the city’s former mayor, Valentine McGillycuddy.
Historic Rapid City Vice President Gavin Williams has said that once the house is completed, they hope to use it to house and preserve the city’s history.
