GOP spinning lies about Obama, immigration
To the Editor:
Regarding the recent letter alleging that President Barack Obama invited the refugee children to come to this country: This is another of the fantasies spewed out by the GOP which it hopes you are gullible enough to believe. Just look at the lies spewed out about Obamacare that have proven to be false.
"Under Obamacare there will be death panels." Where are the death panels? "Under Obamacare doctors will quit in droves." They haven't. "Obamacare will be a job killer." Instead, it has created jobs. The Republican spin doctors go on and on.
Obama has deported more illegals than any other administration. But these children are a different matter. They did not plot to come here. In 2008, a law signed by George W. Bush said that refugee children who were not from Mexico or Canada would receive a fair hearing before being deported. Our president is trying to follow that law, but it takes money to feed and house this many children. He has asked the U.S. House of Representatives to appropriate that money, and it has not done it. Their attitude seems to be, "If we can't deport them, we'll starve them." Quite a stance from a group who likes to drumbeat how Christian it is.
Read Matthew 19:13-15 and Mark 9:36-37. This should be the guide for how these children should be treated in a Christian manner.
Remember: Everyone in this country, except the Native Americans, came from immigrant roots. If the theory that the Native Americans migrated from Asia is true, then they, too, were immigrants.
